Philipp Plein dedicated his new collection to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna who died a month ago in a helicopter crash.
We were awaiting to see who will be the first to release a new limited-edition sports shoes in memory of the recent tragedy, but Philipp Plein went further.
At the new collection runway show, models walked the catwalk in hoodies and T-shirts inspired by the Lakers uniform, with the late basketball player’s lucky number "24" and the designer's logo encrusted in Swarovski crystals. As decorations for the presentation, gold helicopters were used with the fashion brand name replacing the athlete’s team logo.
This was, of course, followed by apologies and reports about donations made from sales of the collection … "Actions speak louder than words.", — Plein claimed. "Just stop" – we say.
